An ode to us

You were walking the roads
with me,
Since when I don't remember.
Once when we were trekking
And once through a storm.
And once when we were walking on ice,
And then that time when we just stood by
The endless fields of time
Watching the sun rise.
We have been walking through the foggy lanes of broken memories,
Picking up pieces of our own puzzles
And smiling at each other while putting them back together.
I don't know where we are headed,
But we are not lost.
We may be going separate ways,
But I will be walking with you
Till the sun sets
And beyond.

Memoir

Your songs were once mine
Your voice a sound inside my head
Calling my name from the other end of the tunnel
Your scent guiding me through the road
And I could see your face
In every flower wet with dewdrops,
I could see your scars on the moon.

And now I wait to hear from you
By the mailbox on a cloudy afternoon,
It's so silent I cannot even hear the wind
But it never rains, oh it never rains.
